Bob Maistros' Obama Glossary

Tuesday, September 29, 2009

OK, so I'm over at RWN today, and I click on one of Van Helsing's links. He quotes extensively from a piece published last Thursday by Bob Maistros at North Star National called "A Helpful Obama Glossary". Wow. This piece is so good, I've reposted it in its entirety (provided Mr. Maistros has no objections).

Many Americans are no doubt confused by some of the terminology used by the president in recent weeks as he has given speeches before a joint session of Congress and the United Nations, conducted a variety of television interviews and introduced new policy proposals. As a public service, we are providing a glossary of these terms with their real meanings:

ACORN – who? Never heard of them. (For related definition of Defunding – “holding a show vote on an amendment to eliminate funding, then bottling up the bill” – see the Congressional Glossary.)

Action (as in “now is the time for action”) – big government.

Balanced and sustained (as in “chart a course for growth that is balanced and sustained”) – involving more big government.

Choice – the opportunity to select big government.

Competition – we choose who wins.

Compromise – accepting my position after I give a big speech.

Cost savings – $900 billion in new spending.

Create or save (as in “create or save 4 million jobs”) – destroy or lose, as in 2 million jobs.

Engagement – a combination of unilateral concessions and America-bashing abroad.

Fact (as in, “these are the facts” or “to state a fact”) – my opinion.

Honest debate – agreeing with me.

Incorporate (as in “incorporate ideas from Republicans”) – include in the early stages of a proposal and then have Pelosi and Reid drop like a hot potato behind closed doors in the final version.

Irresponsible (as in “irresponsible behavior”) – constitutionally protected.

Misinformation – facts, when presented by our opponents.

Neutrality (as in “net neutrality”) – favoring one side in a dispute, especially when that side has supported your campaign and provided a senior White House staff member.

Necessary (as in “necessary war”) – not really that necessary, at least when it comes to backing up your words with required manpower and funding and standing up to your liberal base.

Negotiations without preconditions – the position I took vis-à-vis our enemies during the campaign, then denied taking, but am now trying to force on the Israelis.

Nobody (as in “nobody disputes [these facts]”) – no liberals or members of the mainstream media.

Non-profit (as in proposals to establish tax-favored, non-profit status for failing newspapers) – making official a condition that has existed unofficially for years.

Nothing (as in “nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have”) – everything.

Plan (as in, “the [health-care] plan I am announcing tonight”) – a really good speech.

Respect (as in, “respects the rights of the Israelis and Palestinians” or “the Iranians and North Koreans”) – overrun (Israelis) or elevate beyond reason with no expectation of reciprocity (everyone else).

Responsibility (as in the “responsibility” to buy health insurance or America’s “responsibility” to confront global warming) – big government telling people or nations things they have to do. (See “Action” above.)

Scare tactics – see “Misinformation” above.

Security (as in “stability and security” in health care or “true security for all Israelis”) – you’re toast.

Stand by our friends – desert our friends in order to “engage” with our enemies. (See “Engagement” above.)

Tax – certainly not the fine that goes along with the individual mandate. No matter what that little #&%@! Stephanopoulos or Webster’s say.
There were also several great additions in the comment area.
Lance M Hillier Sr:
President – Me in perpetual campaign mode
I won – I rule, you lose
Govern = not the privilege of leading the country (see I won above)
Accountability – Democrats holding Republicans feet to the fire for Democrat failings [as in It's (still) Bush's fault]
Center for Comparative Effectiveness Research (hereinafter called ‘The Center’) – Death panel

MrsD:
Public Option = Government run
Settled Science = Don’t argue
Settled Law = Don’t argue
Get in their faces = bite off their fingers

Ilpalazzo:
Let me be clear – what follows will be either false or incoherent, but this precursor emphasizes that you’d believe every word of it.

Rick:
“Racist” – anybody who is opposed to Obama’s policies.
(note from RWR - this has already been properly defined as: anyone winning an argument with a liberal)

DB:
Consensus – What I and those who I have brought into the room who believe the same thing believe as a group.

Joel:
Extraordinary = Mediocre

DMOCKERCY:
Reset - To Apologize for all the good America has done, and to Get on one’s knees and service Saudi kings and the PLO.

Tea Party Patriot:
Crisis – Any event (aka excuse) that I determine gives me the authority I need to do what I want
Czar – liberal buddies that I owe favors

HalifaxCB:
“I want to be clear about this” = “I’m about to channel the worst aspects of Richard ‘Let me be perfectly clear’ Nixon into my policies…”.

Hucklebuck:
Let me be clear = I’m about to lie to you.

TheShadow:
Racism: Any disagreement with my obvious wisdom.
The Mess I Inherited: The Mess I exacerbated.
bipartisanship: expecting the Republicans to bend over and grab their ankles on my say-so.
bipartisan effort: anything that Olympia Snowe has signed on to.
dissent: (formerly: the highest form of patriotism. Now archaic) see: racism.

change:
change=redistribution of wealth
Also in the comment area, Bob mentions that he may have to keep this updated. I wil add the link in the left sidebar.

Paranoid but Plausible

Sunday, September 27, 2009

Occasionally, comment threads yield some interesting things. I found this one today at the Rottie, posted by "Eyas" (cleaned up the grammar for him a little too):

September 27, 2009 at 12:28 pm

I know this is way OT, I apologize. I’ve been vacillating over the last month between saying something and not saying anything. This is because what I want to say is insane.

I’m aware that it’s insane (which is why I didn’t want to say anything), but it’s been threatening to drive me insane (which is why I’m writing this now — to get it out of my head and off my shoulders). I had wanted to organize what I wanted to say but, after several aborted attempts, there was too much to say and it all sounded crazy so I deleted those attempts. Now, I’m just winging it — so forgive me as I ramble.

Most will dismiss it as crazy, but, at least here, someone may be seeing what I see.

Here’s the gist:
There will some day soon be arrests and seizures of property by the government in furtherance of a war on opponents of the Obama Administration.

I was going to lay out some background circumstances/events, and my reasoning; but screw it. You’ve either been paying attention or you haven’t (and I know that everyone here HAS).

The most relevant thing is the repeated mentions of the word “violence” by the Left, both Politicians and the Media. This in reference to conservative protests, Town Halls, and Tea Parties.

Why? There hasn’t been any violence. (O.k. there was the time where Obama’s SEIU thugs beat the crap out of some guy; and there was the putz who had his finger eaten — after he admittedly threw the first punch.)

Of course, the Left will bring up the both the shooting at the Holocaust Museum and the murder of the Abortion doctor, attributing those acts to the very same grandparents and stay-at-home moms populating the tea parties & town halls.

The Left is continuing, and will continue, to bring up violence to condition the masses to hearing of violence from conservatives.

Again, why?

Because if none occurs on its own, it will be manufactured. Glenn Beck has unnecessarily warned people against initiating violence, but he has also advised people not to retaliate. In other words, he has advised folks — when confronted by Leftist thugs — to “take a punch” for your Country. DON’T. It won’t matter whether you do or not, it will be reported the same way.

Once such violence (attributed to and blamed on conservatives) occurs, it will provide the Left with justification for a crackdown. This will include the seizure of legally-owned firearms.

Arrests will begin with the arrest of persons who many/most Americans feel probably ought to be arrested. White supremacists, militias that have existed for decades, and legitimate criminals. This will then extend to persons who are vocal in their dislike of the Federal Government. The term “threats to Public Safety” will become very broadly defined indeed. Generally speaking, the arrests and seizures will spread from actual criminals to include anyone defined as a “Domestic Terrorist” by the DHS memo early in the year.

There won’t be any reporting on those arrested after the initial reports where they are defined as right-wing “Domestic Terrorists”. Once the arrests happen, nothing uncommon or outrageously illegal needs to occur. They don’t need to be found guilty, or even tried. Trials of this kind, even today, often take years. All the while, the individuals will be held in prison — legitimately & legally — pending trial.

Eventually, such arrests won’t even garner much attention, and may not be reported at all, except in local papers.

It also occurs to me that as Obama Indoctrination continues – and gets even worse – in public schools, parents will start pulling their kids from these schools. Unfortunately, many will refuse to send their kids back to school without first having a homeschooling plan (authorized by the govt, naturally). CPS will have their hands full with children taken from homes and parents.

Americans no longer have property rights. Haven’t had them in nigh on 3 years. The government may at any time (often without any compensation) seize private property. Not for “Public Use” as required by the Constitution, but merely for “Public Benefit” as defined by the government itself. Hmm, funny that the terms “General Welfare” and “Public Benefit” are actually synonyms. I don’t know why or for what purposes the government will begin seizing property. I only know that they can.

The inevitability of these things obviously depends completely on the 2010 elections. But, even if the mid-terms go as well as possible (from our perspective) they will only delay or postpone the inevitable.

On another, related note:
Anyone heard anything from the actual mouths, or even the lawyers for, the men arrested for the Holocaust Museum killing and the killing of the Abortion doctor? No, of course not. They’re presumed guilty. I’m not saying that they didn’t do what they’re accused of, but I’d like to hear something from them or from their attorneys.

Anyone a little curious about the white, southern/midwestern guys wrapped up in the recent terrorism (read “Domestic Terrorism”) crackdown? Eight years since 2001, and for decades prior, this hasn’t happened (except for Johnny Walker Lindh). Now, 2 or 3 white, middle-American guys involved in terror plots. I’m not saying that the allegations aren’t true. What I’m saying is that there may be tens, hundreds, or even thousands of cells within our borders. I find it curious that the ones involving white, middle-American dudes are the ones busted recently. I imagine that you will never again hear a report of an American-born, black Muslim involved in any terror plot. It’s damned curious at the least.

Further, not one but two instances where the terrorists actually attempted to explode a non-functioning bomb provided by undercover feds? Really?

Lastly:
I know this is all paranoid, conspiracy-minded, craziness. I see it coming anyway. After all, just because you’re paranoid …..

I’ve tried to keep it brief, so as not to bore those who will dismiss it. Also, I know that some will read it and say “No shit, Eyas. I already knew all that.” Sorry to belabor the point, but for my own peace of mind, I had to say it to somebody somewhere.

Always keep in mind that what’s going on in this country by the Left and under Obama is an iceberg. For each single thing you see, there are 9 things you don’t. In our current scenario, Obama is the iceberg to America — the unsinkable ship.

In America today, if you’re NOT paranoid … you’re the one who’s crazy.

Thanks for taking the time to read my rant.

- Eyas
It does make you wonder why Nancy Pelosi and others on the left are throwing the word "violence" around like a toy, if not for the reasons Eyas suggested.

I do believe Sage would agree with much if not all of this. Holding up healthcare has been one of the greatest achievements of the American people today. It has thus stopped the progress of this kind of stuff (if it is in fact actually happening). Let's all make sure we're doing what we can to slow things down as much as possible. I don't think there's much debate among conservatives that "Obama is the iceberg to America - the unsinkable ship".

Insist upon conservative candidates in the upcoming elections as well. A liberal Republican isn't going to do America any more good than a liberal Democrat. If you can't get a conservative, then find a conservative to vote for (as I did in this last election). Alan Keyes would have been a much better president than either McCain or Obama ... get the idea?

Still, it's undeniable that Obama has ultimately been one of the best things to happen to our country. Do you really think McShithead would have gotten the American people to wake up like Obama has? Here's a song that the libs might suggest forwards their agenda, but now that Obama has things so screwed up, look at how much better it will be after Obama is stopped:
Wake Up Everybody
Harold Melvin

Wake up everybody no more sleepin in bed
No more backward thinkin time for thinkin ahead
The world has changed so very much
From what it used to be so
there is so much hatred war an' poverty
Wake up all the teachers time to teach a new way
Maybe then they'll listen to whatcha have to say
Cause they're the ones who's coming up and the world is in their hands
when you teach the children teach em the very best you can.

The world won't get no better if we just let it be
The world won't get no better we gotta change it yeah, just you and me.

Wake up all the doctors make the ol' people well
They're the ones who suffer an' who catch all the hell
But they don't have so very long before the Judgement Day
So won'tcha make them happy before they pass away.
Wake up all the builders time to build a new land
I know we can do it if we all lend a hand
The only thing we have to do is put it in our mind
Surely things will work out they do it every time.

The world won't get no better if we just let it be
The world won't get no better we gotta change it yeah, just you and me.
Got to change it back to what the Founders gave us, indeed. If you just let it be, Obama's gonna run completely amok.

Stephanopoulos and Merriam-Webster Join the VRWC

Monday, September 21, 2009

George Stephanopoulos (you may remember him from Bubba's term) confronted Barack Obama about a tax-increase supported healthcare mandate supported by the alleged president. Obama tried to deny there was a tax increase involved, so George gave him the dictionary definition of a tax. If it weren't such a pattern, you wouldn't believe Barack's response:

STEPHANOPOULOS: I -- I don't think I'm making it up. Merriam Webster's Dictionary: Tax -- "a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes."

OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn't have gone to the dictionary to check on the definition. I mean what...
(Philip Klein at the American Spectator further points out that the term "tax" is taken directly from the bill in question.)

So using the actual definition of a word to clarify what is meant be something someone said is "stretching"? Cut me a fucking break.

As if George Stephanopoulos is on any side but Barack's. He should have kept plugging the point. Still, a little progress in the right direction for a liberal has to be applauded.

Of course, Obama rejects that a tax increase is a tax increase, seemingly on the basis that his critics call it that.
OBAMA: My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I'm taking over every sector of the economy. You know that.
OK so since your critics are calling this a tax increase, it's not - and since your critics say you're taking over every sector of the economy, you're not.

Or is this a backdoor admission to something?? And are George Stephanopoulos and Merriam-Webster now part of some conspiracy against Barack Obama?

The Simple Solution

Alan Autry: [Turning off the water to California farms] is not just bad politics, it's an act of domestic terror.

I agree.

If you want to protect a 2-inch fish, go catch a shitload of them and move them somewhere else ... but TURN THE FUCKING WATER BACK ON.

This is what happens when you turn control over your lives to a government. California, you are merely reaping what you have sowed. Maybe this will be your wake-up call. You want your farms back up and running? Stand up against these socialists. They'll turn the water on ... once they know you aren't going to let them keep their power unless they do ... or better yet, just vote their sorry asses the fuck out anyway. America will be much better off without Nancy Pelosi.

Also, a note to the Governator: If you thing you might like to keep your office, try actually invoking the Tenth Amendment and defying D.C. instead of begging Barack for illegal federal aid. You're just going to get pissed on anyway.

News Flash: Carter is Clueless

Wednesday, September 16, 2009

Well yeah, we've known that for some time - at least thirty-plus years, but just when you think the liberals have said the most loony things possible, Jimmy Carter comes up with this whopper:

An overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man.
Yeah ok, Skippy. You go on believing that, but let me remind you of a couple of things if you can get your head out of your ass long enough to read them:

1. Barack Obama was black during the campaign season. If people had a problem with his race, I doubt you'd be seeing him in the Oval Office these days. If his race were a problem now, it also would have been then, particularly given the many reasons NOT to vote for him.

2. Just because liberals take to the streets to protest in anger doesn't mean conservatives do the same. Where was all the litter in the streets on Saturday when a crowd of somewhere between a half a million and 2.5 million demostrated on the mall in Washington, DC this past weekend? Where was all the hate? Show me ONE protest sign about this jackass's race.

3. There is plenty of racism in America, but it's not coming from the Right. It's coming from nutjobs like you (Carter) who are so obsessed with your bigot "president" getting his ass kicked by everyday Americans that you just won't acknowledge that it is YOU who have been wrong all along. And yes, I just called your liar (Wilson was right) a bigot. The incident in Cambridge, Massachusetts is all the evidence I need on that one.

4. I challenge you, Mr. Carter, to point out some examples of this racism you speak of. Each and every difference I have voiced in this forum and others is directed at the simple fact that Barack Obama is a SOCIALIST NUTBAG who is systematically attempting to dismantle the God-given freedoms that our Founding Fathers gave their lives to guarantee the people of this nation. I have supported efforts of those who wish to confirm his yet-unestablished natural-born citizenship, confirmation that he has spent over a million US dollars trying to stop from happening. It would be nice to see a liberal or two who so cared about the Constitution.

Conservatives do not consider race at all in making decisions. Those who do are, I would argue, NOT conservative. We are also insulted when you accuse us of such wrongs, when by engaging in behavior such as this, Mr. Carter, you are yourself guilty of racism. I will remind you that after I searched the available candidates for President of the United States, the one best qualified to support the Constitution that you liberals would so love to tear to shreds was, in fact, a black man. Will you call me racist for speaking out against Barack Obama now? Is my voting for a black man good enough for you? Or must it be a liberal fuckwad black man like the lying socialist pissant you are supporting now?

I invite you, Mr. Carter, to go fuck yourself.

Obama on Obamacare

Sunday, September 13, 2009

William Teach is reporting at RWN a couple of interesting things released by the White House in the wee hours (there's that Obama transparency for ya) of Friday night:

1. Wilson was correct in accusing Mr. Obama of lying. However, The One has not said a word to anyone about laying off of Joe Wilson.

2. Obama has scrambled to include enforcement procedures to cover his lie.

3. In the following bullet point, Obama admits that this whole thing is geared toward the eventual complete takeover of the healthcare system ("single payer").

* Undocumented immigrants would be able to buy insurance in the non-exchange private market, just as they do today. That market will shrink as the exchange takes hold, but it will still exist and will be subject to reforms such as the bans on pre-existing conditions and caps.

(My emphasis)
and 4. Obama is going ahead with his plans to meet with Iranian terrorists "with no preconditions".

If GWB was a "jackass joke of a president", what the fuck is this guy?

New Platform Suggestion

In light of the huge wake-up call Americans are responding to, we're getting a lot of people checking out the Federalist Party Platform from last spring.

Looks like we got a new suggestion in the comment thread last week for the Platform.

"That no American considered sane and safe enough to be at large shall be deprived of the right to arm himself however he wishes..."

Regarding this right to bear arms statement, I think it might be worded a little differently. The "...safe enough to be "at large", conjures up the thought of an escaped criminal on the run from the police. Also, it could be argued by a shifty politician, lawyer, or judge that even thought someone is at large, they are not safe enough.

What about something like - That no American, not having been adjudicated to be insane by a competent court of law, shall be deprived of the right to arm himself however and wherever he wishes..."
This is an excellent suggestion, as it places a new restriction upon the government, though I doubt an "escaped criminal on the run from police" could be considered "safe" by anyone. It also brings up the problem of defining a "competent court of law".

Perhaps a requirement that the person in question be adjudicated as insane by at least two "competent" courts of law (such as local, county, and state)?

How about some thoughts on this thread about these ideas?

Also, I can get about 500 email addresses on the new mailing list (available in the right sidebar). Nice easy way to keep people updated on the goings-on in getting this thing going! Sign up if you want.

Traffic Milestone

Wednesday, September 09, 2009

Time to toot my own horn.

As everyone here knows, I really don't live or die by traffic counts, but do watch them - mostly for fun and interest.

However, last night we crossed to 1,000 hit threshold for the 12th consecutive month. Having done it so early in the month is also pretty cool, though I'm not going to speculate that we will be breaking our October 2008 record of 2,976 hits. Sure, we're on pace for it (and you'd better believe I will be bragging if it happens - it's just too much fun), but it's only numbers.

This is a great milestone for a small blog such as this. I'll never be a big blog like Hawk with his 30,000 daily visits, but I do love our intimate group of readers and friends, as well as our adversaries and trolls - well not the trolls. They get banned.

But there is no question that the RWRepublic, small or large, represents a growing voice in the blogosphere. There is no question that the dedication to the Founding Fathers and the Constitution is second to none. Quite a far cry from the original concept, which was really just to make fun of all the stupid liberal bullshit out there - oh yeah, and the rants too!

So, before I retire for the night, I will again pat myself on the back, as well as all of you who have made it happen. The RWRepublic is truly a great place that brings great conservative minds together in a place of brotherhood and friendship, and I am proud to have been able to be a facilitator of that brotherhood and friendship.

Let's keep it rolling!

Schilling for Senate

Wednesday, September 02, 2009

Now I'm not really sure where he stands on issues, but ex-Phillie great Curt Schilling has expressed an interest in running for the swimmer's senate seat in Massachusetts.

Curt's not the first Phillie great to run for office. Kentucky Senator Jim Bunning also wore Phillies pinstripes, famous for his 1964 perfect game on Fathers' Day at Shea Stadium against the New York Mets. The Phils have retired number 14 in his honor, and a quick glance at his record shows him generally on our side of things.

Schill's supposed to be a pretty conservative guy, though there are plenty of memories of him standing up for the baseball players' union at a time when they all should have just shut the fuck up and played. Still, almost any Republican would be more conservative than the extreme leftist who recently assumed room temperature.

As a ballplayer, there weren't many more committed to winning than Schilling. If he is a real conservative, he will be a great guy to have in our corner. His killer instinct and willingness to do what it takes to win without giving up much, even when he's not completely on top of his game - hallmarks of his awesome pitching career with Philly, Phoenix, and Boston, will be an asset to the conservative cause.

You go, Curt. You could be just the thing Massachusetts needs to get moved in the right direction!
