Surfing over at BlogsForTerri this afternoon, I found a post refereincing this article. Apparently Judge Greer, who declined to do his Constitutional duty to intervene and save a life, is going to be honored as "a consistent judge who followed the law".

Followed the law? Which law would that be? Under the authority of which federal or state law did Judge Greer allow this woman to be put to death? Under the authority of which federal or state law did he refuse to intervene, when called upon to do so, in a case where another judge did the same?

Certainly not the Fifth Amendment. In order to legally deprive this person of her life, due process of law would have included having Mrs. Schiavo face trial for a capital offense, found guilty by a jury, and sentenced to death by the same. When did all this happen? This woman was forced to dehydrate to death on March 31. I still haven't seen a story anywhere outlining what exactly her crime was, or exactly what the jurors had to say about the merits of the case. In fact, I haven't heard anything about a victim's body being found in the case or a weapon or even a motive for the crime she allegedly committed. The first and most important right granted by God and guaranteed by the Constitution is the right to life. Without life, no other rights can be asserted.

His professionalism and integrity was punctuated by the way he handled the Schiavo case, said Alan Scott Miller, a New Port Richey lawyer and member of the West Pasco Bar Association.

Disregarding or defying the constitution and state laws protecting people's basic right to live is neither professional nor deserving of the word integrity. This man is a snake and should be impeached.

``He's getting this award for all of his contributions on the bench, not just the Schiavo case,'' Miller said. ``It's like a lifetime achievement award for an actor.''

Who was it that made the case for "moral bank accounts"? You know, a guy is married 50 years and is an otherwise good husband and father and has a one-night fling on a business trip ... forgive the guy on the basis of all the good he has done in the rest of his married life? Hitler was an awesome artist, but with all the horrible things he did ... don't forgive him because of the magnitude of the horrible things he did?

No matter how hard I try, I cannot see how being a murderous judicial tyrant can be offset by anything positive this jackweed may have done. His handling of the Schiavo case is reason enough to seek his immediate impeachment. He can shove his award up his ass.

``I don't think anyone could ever say his decisions were unlawful,'' said Joan Nelson Hook, president of the West Pasco Bar Association. ``They were very thoughtful. His decisions were meticulous.

``We admired his ability to sustain the pressure not to follow the law. ... I think that shows his character.''

I can and do say his decisions in the Schiavo case were unlawful. In fact, I am calling (hopefully pretty loudly) for his immediate impeachment for his failure to follow and uphold applicable law, pursuant to:

The Constitution of the United States, Amendment V: "No person shall be ... deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;",

The Florida Constitution, Article 1, section 2: "All natural persons, female and male alike, are equal before the law and have inalienable rights, among which are the right to enjoy and defend life and liberty ... No person shall be deprived of any right because of race, religion, national origin, or physical disability."

The Florida Constitution, Article 1, section 9: "No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law ..."

Steve Doran, association president-elect, echoed Hook's thoughts on Greer's handling of the Schiavo case.

``His decisions in that unfortunate case withstood the test of every appellate court in the country,'' Doran said. ``Those who are criticizing him are not seeing the big picture.''

What am I missing, Mr. Doran? It seems to me you may actually be the one missing the "big picture". How about you take a moment to read this:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. --That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed ...

This is the driving philosophy behind American government, not your mamby-pamby anti-life agenda. Judges are part of the government, in case you hadn't noticed. And they have only those powers that are granted by the people. Nothing in the US Constitution or the Florida Constitution gives this or any judge the authority to put an innocent woman to death. So what is it I'm missing from the so-called "big picture"? Hmm???

If you people want to give this sicko an award, go right ahead. I won't be party to it. Sadly, I doubt anyone will be paying much attention to my calls for this tyrant's impeachment.
