Most U.S. troops will leave Iraq within a year because the Army is "broken, worn out" and "living hand to mouth," Rep. John Murtha told a civic group.

Hmm ... I wonder if Armybryan would agree ... or maybe even Joe Lieberman, who actually has been to Iraq ...

Two weeks ago, Murtha created a storm of comment when he called for U.S. troops to leave Iraq now. The Democratic congressman spoke to a group of community and business leaders in Latrobe on Wednesday, the same day President Bush said troops would be withdrawn when they've achieved victory, not under an artificial deadline set by politicians.

Yeah, he called for US troops to leave Iraq now. Then when given a chance to vote that way voted "no". Why? Simple. He doesn't really believe it. HE KNOWS HE IS WRONG.

Murtha predicted most troops will be out of Iraq within a year.

And this is a bad thing? Our troops will accomplish their goals, and Iraq will be a flourishing democracy soon enough for the troops to come home that soon and start working on other terrorist regimes like, say, Iran? I'd say thats a good thing. I seriously doubt all that bullshit about "broken, worn out, and living hand-to-mouth". We're talking about the United States military here, dude. It just doesn't work that way with our guys. What you are doing, Mr. Murtha, is obvious. You are trying to undermine the war effort by bringing morale down at home in the hopes that the morale of the soldiers will be adversely affected. For this, you are an asshole.

"I predict he'll make it look like we're staying the course," Murtha said,referring to Bush. "Staying the course is not a policy."

I predict the same, and it will be much more convincing than your bullshit diatribe, simply because the President will be telling the actual truth rather than touting lies designed to make his opponents look bad. Staying the course is not only a policy, it is the best policy. Mr. Murtha, the truth will make you look worse than the lies you are telling, not to mention how stupid you make yourself look when you engage in this sort of stupidity.

Murtha, 73, the ranking Democrat on the House Appropriations defense subcommittee, expressed pessimism about Iraq's stability and said the Iraqis know who the insurgents are, but don't always share that information with U.S.troops. He said a civil war is likely because of ongoing factionalism among Sunni Arabs, and Kurds and Shiites.

Yeah, OK. Ongoing factionalism, and they still approved their Constitution. Imagine that. You act as if a civil war in Iraq is automatically a bad thing. WRONG. It will depend on who wins. However, the tiny Sunni minorityis the only "faction" that does not support US efforts to bring Iraq to its own self-rule. Oh, and let's please stop with this "insurgents" crap. It implies that these people are Iraqis. They aren't. They are al-Qaeda TERRORISTS from other countries, who have either made their way into the country over the last couple of years, or were BEING HARBORED THERE DURING THE HUSSEIN REGIME.

He also said he was wrong to vote to support the war.

You voted the same way just last week, you fucking nimrod. Go crawl back into your hole.

"I admit I made a mistake when I voted for war," Murtha said. "I'm looking at the future of the United States military."

The future of the United States military would be far better off if you would just sit down and have yourself a nice cup of shut the fuck up.

Murtha, a decorated Vietnam war veteran, said the Pennsylvania National Guard is "stretched so thin" that it won't be able to send fully equipped units to Iraq next year. Murtha predicted it will cost $50 billion to upgrade military equipment nationwide, but says the federal government is already reducing future purchases to save money.

Hey, Dickhead. The Pennsylvania National Guard isn't fighting the war. Get it?

Murtha, who represents a western Pennsylvania district that includes Latrobe, was first elected to Congress in 1974.

And his constituents would be wise to see that he isn't elected again.

Lt. Col. Chris Cleaver, spokesman for the Pennsylvania National Guard at Fort Indiantown Gap, said "there are some deployment concerns."

Yeah, dude. When guys get deployed, there are concerns. It's the nature of the beast. The guardsmen tend to get over that pretty quickly. What's your problem?

Cleaver said some guard units had to leave equipment in Iraq when they returned to the United States, which could cause training problems here.

What ever happened to the old American tradition of finding ways to make the right things happen? Are we not the country that brought Apollo 13 home safely? What the fuck is your problem?

But Cleaver also said most of the 2,100 Guard troops now deployed with the 2nd Brigade Combat Team can't be sent back to Iraq for a second tour of duty anyway, because of regulations that limit redeployment.

This all goes to show just why the so-called "chickenhawk" argument is such bullshit. The simple fact that your humble correspondent, having never served in the military, has a better understanding of the reasons for and the strategy of this war than these two idiots speaks volumes about the Left's blind hatred and lack of confidence not only in Republicans and other conservatives, but in America and what she stands for.

If we fail in this effort, it will not be the fault of the military, nor the Bush Administration. Rather (no pun intended), it will be the fault of these left-wing whack-jobs, who have as their true agenda the end of American economic and military superiority in the world. Their real agenda is one of bringing down of freedom so that they can ultimately replace our Consitution with the socialism that has consistently failed everywhere it has been tried. Mark my words. It's as plain as the nose on John Kerry's face.
