Final Update: Peaceful Muslims Speak Out

Wednesday, February 08, 2006

Earlier this week, with regard to the Danish cartoons, I asked the following:

Exactly where are the peaceful muslims in all this? Where is their outrage at the situation that has caused this stereotype to exist? Where are they in denouncing the terrorism that has brought about this shame upon their religion? If they are speaking out, they need to speak louder. Perhaps their governments need to be toppled so that their God-given right to free speech can be honored?
Well, pardon me for missing one of my daily reads yesterday. Omar at Iraq the Model posted on this and gave us some insight from a peaceful muslim on the issue. Of course, he's from the only free country that is dominated by muslims. Yes, that would be Iraq. Oh yeah, I almost forgot, Omar's opinion gets heard because the United States toppled the suppressive regime there. Sorry Teddy. You lose on that one. No Iraq war, no free speech rights, and no honest opinion coming from this peaceful muslim.

Two other peaceful muslims in Jordan were arrested for publishing the cartoons and commenting in favor of the Danish cartoonist and newspaper. Ironically, one of them has as his first name "Jihad". Said he:
"What brings more prejudice against Islam, these caricatures or pictures of a hostage-taker slashing the throat of his victim in front of the cameras or a suicide bomber who blows himself up during a wedding ceremony in Amman?"
For speaking the truth, he was arrested and forced to apologize.

This is one "Jihad" I would definitely support.

Update: More peaceful muslims call for an end to rioting.

This should be more common. All peaceful people should recognize that these riots were wrong. Hats off to these people.
