Health Benefits for Same-Sex Couples

So I saw this tonight on FoxNews.com.
Kinda stupid, I must say.
First of all, I don't see why exactly it's news that gay couples want to get each other on their insurance policies now that they've been allowed to marry. After all, that was part of the justification for their getting married in the first place.
Second, I don't see why any of this is an issue. Gay couples wouldn't have had too much to clamor about if their rights in general would have been respected - rights that the rest of us should have (and often don't) as well.
Think about it. If you're willing to pay the premium, why the hell SHOULDN'T you be able to put WHOMEVER THE HELL YOU WANT on your insurance policy? Why in the hell should you have to be married to get that? If that had been the case, there would have been one less reason for these people to want to pervert the sacred institution of marriage. If I want to insure my cousin or my neighbor, for example, why should I be barred from doing that?
Bottom line: Gay people have the right to insure each other at will, AND SO DO THE REST OF US. It's about time that right were recognized for all of us, not just homosexuals.
I'm no fan of "gay marriage", as people well know, but I'm also no fan of depriving people the basic rights of humanity, gay or otherwise. If these people are willing to pay the premiums, then court action shouldn't be a requirement to get them insured.
