David Harsanyi has made a pretty good case that libertarians are going to like Sarah Palin.

I find this not much of a surprise, given the liberals' reaction to her nomimation. I even got an email from a liberal friend accusing John McCain of treason for, of all things, nominating her. Never mind the actual treason he's committed in the form of legislation. Nomiate a candidate who takes her oath seriously, and defers to her state's constitution even when she disagrees with it, and in their eyes, he's a traitor.

It often makes me wonder if McCain's treasonous bullshit in the Senate could have been a ploy to find enough favor with liberals and "centrists" to use those constituencies to get elected, while trying to find a real champion of the Constitution to pass the torch to after his term. If this would turn out to be true, I trust him even less for using this line of thought, but applaud his choice of VP candidate. She's just the right person to go in there and clean up the mess McCain and his liberal friends in the Republican and Democratic Parties have made over the years.

Palin also brings HUGE hope that it's probably not yet time to give up on the Republican Party as a party of conservatives. Heck, these guys even had a libertarian make a pretty good run in the primaries, and had he not been such an anti-war nutjob, Ron Paul might have had a better chance of winning the thing.

The point of all this is that, win lose or draw, Sarah Palin is now on the national stage, and will have to be reckoned with for a long time to come. This woman, who made a decision based on her respect for her state constitution instead of her personal beliefs and vetoed overspending, could be the light at the end of the tunnel America has so desperately needed for a very long time.
