Steinberg: Taxpayer-funded Abortion is a First Amendment Right

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

No. You didn't read that wrong. James Stenberg, Oblahma's nominee for Deputy Secretary of State, actually asserted that people who don't have access to taxpayer-funded abortions are actually having their First Amendment rights violated.

Question from Senator DeMint: For more than 30 years the Hyde amendments, which prohibit federal funding for abortion services, have been supported by Republican and Democrat administrations and Congresses. Unfortunately, while this is the domestic policy of the United States, President Obama has vowed to reverse our foreign policy by repealing the Mexico City policy and use the federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortion services overseas. Do you support President Obama's efforts to lift the Mexico City restrictions? Do you believe our foreign policy should contradict long held domestic policies?

Answer from James Steinberg: President Obama has supported repeal of the Mexico City policy, as has Secretary Clinton. Longstanding law, authored by Senator Jesse Helms, expressly prohibits the use of U.S. funds of abortion. The Mexico City policy is an unnecessary restriction that, if applied to organizations based in this country, would be an unconstitutional limitation on free speech.
OK. So Barack has nominated someone who thinks taxpayer-funded abortion is a constitutional right, but wants to implement the "Fairness Doctrine"? Which of these foolish positions is a more obvious violation of First Amendment rights, and which one is a bigger stretch?

What this combination of positions says about President Obama is this: It's more important that people are able to kill their unborn children and to protect that than is it that people are able to speak their mind with regard to the way theya re treated by evil governmental officials. In other words - murder should be protected, but free speech should not.

Yeah, Barack. You got me there.

Hell, Rocker, we have four years of this crap coming. Most people don't think the feds have any place in this arguement. I think the tenth amendment is more applicable. Overseas? What's up with that?

It's nice to know that my money is being used to fund the murder of unborn children in another country, while at the same time, prohibting Rush's right to bitch about it. Good job, Mr Messiah. But then, we knew he was going to do everything he could to strenghthen the State's control over 'we the people' now, didn't we, RWR? We are screwed.

Here in Maine, they are pushing forward, The Employee Free Choice Act, which is open ballots for unions. This means that everyone will know who voted AGAINST unionizing. Oh, yeah, the commercials for it, use the O's 'hope and change' mantra, and state they're just trying to, "...level the playing field..".

Well, April, if it's any help to you, we have a great candidate running for governor here in NJ who's got it together. I've sent him some questions that he's agreed to answer, so look for his answers here very soon!

Yeah, the real crap isn't taking long to start. It will be a nughtmare when the have to 'fix' everything they have broken in a couple of years.

This isn't solely due to Obama getting elected. The problem is the complete control the dems have on the Presidencey, house and senate. The repub progressives will gladly help sink this country.

Yup, Tom, you're right.

I went to his website, RWR. He certainly 'sounds' Conservative, what with the plain speaking and all. Would be nice to know there is one, anyway....

Charge him with treason. When he uses the defense of "not a citizen", voila', change it to espionage. Done.

Done, indeed, cmblake.

Though there are good conservatives who are not pro-life like us, and I can live with that. I'll take them on when the issue is back in the states where it belongs.

What I have a HUGE problem with is the US government paying for this. People don't have the right to use other people's money to pay for their own "mistakes" (my two daughters are the best mistakes I ever made, by that measure). What's worse is that this money isn't even being spent on Americans. It's being spent to kill babies in foreign countries - and kill them on purpose. These aren't victims of "collateral damage" here. These are innocents being killed by their own parents with the blessing of the US government and YOUR money and MY money.

That's just sick, and the idea that these people have the right to do this unde the umbrella of "free speech" when the same people saying that don't respect our REAL right to free speech is a major threat to the sanctity of freedom in this country.

You guys don't mind blowing people up in other countries so why do you care if we 'murder unborn babies?'

Sterilize the entire Middle East for all I care.

2009-02-02T14:02:14
First of all, Troy, we do NOT advocate indiscriminately blowing people up ANYWHERE - only those who have professed a desire to harm us, and even then not indiscriminately. We do everything in our power to preserve the lives and property of the innocent. The people we are gunning for are already gunning for us, and if we don't kill them, they have already made a point of letting us know they will kill us.

Name me one unborn baby who has made that point, and we can discuss the matter further.

It's easy to advocate "murder" when you are the beneficiary of that act; and even more so when you do not have to be responsible personally for it.
Free speech, on the other hand, will keep the "freedom" movement on the same page with each other, which is most definitely not in the best interests of globalists like him.
