I was Invited!
Thursday, April 07, 2011
I was invited today to be a contributor at Blogcritics.com.
Sent samples and was approved.
It seems, however, that I will not be contributing. The email I got back from them stipulated the following:
Once you've submitted your article and saved into PENDING, the editors receive an alert which tells our editorial team that there are pending articles in the queue. From there, we will either edit and publish your story, or if there need to be further revisions, then the story will be placed back in DRAFT and you will be sent an email with revision instructions. Only AFTER you receive the automated email stating your story has been PUBLISHED can you post the article on your own blog.
Haha yeah right. My work will be subject to someone else's revision? Fuck that. I am by far the best proofreader in the Rightosphere, and I would wind up correcting the editors. And who the fuck do they think they are telling me I have to wait for them to publish first before publishing here? What a load of crap.
I am the lead blogger at TSAR and TAFP blogs. I do edit for grammar and spelling, but that's mostly to cover Sage's occasional run-ons. I do NOT stipulate where my fellow bloggers can post their work or when. It's THEIR WORK, after all.
So I responded as follows:
"Only AFTER you receive the automated email stating your story has been PUBLISHED can you post the article on your own blog."
No thanks.
My work gets published where and when I choose, and is not subject to anyone else's approval or revision.
If you have a problem with this, please remove my application immediately.

If they want my work, they get it on my terms, period.
