One thing I hear a lot from Americans, liberal and conservative alike, is the reference to the office of POTUS as "the most important job in the world".

Let me go on record as disagreeing with this sentiment. The president doesn't have the most important job in the US, let alone the world.

The most important job in the world is the one you do every day - the one that keeps the roof over your head and the food on your table.

It's the job that keeps wheels under you and those wheels fueled and maintained.

It's the job that makes it possible for you to save and invest so that you don't have to work quite so hard later in life, pr even retire early.

It's the job that keeps the lights on, your computers running (or "computer" if you're Sage haha), and your communications lines open.

It's the job that keeps you happy and entertained, and your children safe.

To say that the job of President of the United States is more important than that of an IT technician, teacher, secretary, builder, architect, trash collector, electrician, musician, or any of the countless professions I haven't mentioned, is to fall victim to the same delusions of grandeur that those in Washington, DC have for themselves.

America's wake-up call is coming, and it's not going to be pretty.
