Blago Tossed

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Illinois' corrupt governor was convicted today at his impeachment trial an barred from ever holding public office in Illinois again.

Of course, if Americans truly cared about the shit this guy did, they'd get about the business of impeaching the rest of Illinois' corrupt politicians - starting with "President" Obama.

Steinberg: Taxpayer-funded Abortion is a First Amendment Right

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

No. You didn't read that wrong. James Stenberg, Oblahma's nominee for Deputy Secretary of State, actually asserted that people who don't have access to taxpayer-funded abortions are actually having their First Amendment rights violated.

Question from Senator DeMint: For more than 30 years the Hyde amendments, which prohibit federal funding for abortion services, have been supported by Republican and Democrat administrations and Congresses. Unfortunately, while this is the domestic policy of the United States, President Obama has vowed to reverse our foreign policy by repealing the Mexico City policy and use the federal taxpayer dollars to fund abortion services overseas. Do you support President Obama's efforts to lift the Mexico City restrictions? Do you believe our foreign policy should contradict long held domestic policies?

Answer from James Steinberg: President Obama has supported repeal of the Mexico City policy, as has Secretary Clinton. Longstanding law, authored by Senator Jesse Helms, expressly prohibits the use of U.S. funds of abortion. The Mexico City policy is an unnecessary restriction that, if applied to organizations based in this country, would be an unconstitutional limitation on free speech.
OK. So Barack has nominated someone who thinks taxpayer-funded abortion is a constitutional right, but wants to implement the "Fairness Doctrine"? Which of these foolish positions is a more obvious violation of First Amendment rights, and which one is a bigger stretch?

What this combination of positions says about President Obama is this: It's more important that people are able to kill their unborn children and to protect that than is it that people are able to speak their mind with regard to the way theya re treated by evil governmental officials. In other words - murder should be protected, but free speech should not.

Yeah, Barack. You got me there.

RWR to Interview Steve Lonegan

Friday, January 23, 2009

I have long been looking for a viable candidate for any office that I can support. It looks like this time, I may have found the one to support for, of all things, Governor of New Jersey. Fellow Bergen County Native Steve Lonegan has decided to run for governor, and it looks like he may actually have a chance. With all of the foolishness that has been going on here, Steve is a breath of fresh air.

Furthermore, the Lonegan campaign has agreed to an interview for this blog, which is not too shabby a prospect for the RWRepublic. The questions I have prepared for the governor-to-be are right along the lines of what you would expect from a constitutionalist like myself, and I know he is up to the task, even though they aren't exactly "softball". He has pretty good "conservative credentials", and a victory for him would send an excellent message to the failing entity that is the Republican Party.

As in other potential interview situations, I'll open the floor for questions that could be asked. Do understand that Mr. Lonegan's campaign has agreed to this interview WITHOUT having previewed any questions. This means he should be treated as a "friendly" (understand, Sage???? haha) in any line of questioning we should pursue, especially given the type of questions I've already prepared, which are loaded with "Article" this and "Paragraph" that.

Here are a few positions Steve has outlined on his website (I've cut this back some to emphasize the specifics. I hope the campaign doesn't mind. The full text is available at the link):

Steve Lonegan is New Jersey's number one fighter for overtaxed working families fed up with high taxes and an intrusive state government.

Lonegan is a conservative concerned that state government has grown too big and out of control.

As Governor, Steve will put an end to out-of-control spending. Lonegan will veto liberal spending programs, eliminate wasteful agencies and completely overhaul state government.

New regulations on small business owners from landscapers to fitness trainers will be overturned. Regulations forcing high-density, Low Income Housing projects on our suburban towns will be repealed.

Lonegan will turn around our liberal state courts by selecting conservative judges who will reverse left-wing court decisions.

And Lonegan will begin the process of reducing income taxes, repealing Corzine's 7 percent sales tax and rolling back the dozens of other oppressive taxes like tire taxes, cell phone taxes, real estate transfer taxes and the new paid family leave income tax.
If Steve accomplishes only half of this without allowing liberal expansion, New Jersey will be a great place to live and work again. I'm really looking forward to the interview.

LC Jackboot's Call to Arms.

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

LC Jackboot over at the Rott has posted a call to arms for everyone who cherishes freedom.

It's far too important to just link. I'm quoting it in its entirety (cleaned up a little, of course).

Read it.

Live it.

Friends and LCs, a few short hours from now, we face perhaps the greatest challenge our Republic has ever faced. Decades of decadence, comfort, and the ability to shed all responsibility onto the government have come to fruition. What the average American has not and will not comprehend, is that our very form of freedom from tyranny has been voted away willfully, with the collusion of our enemies and ourselves. We survived wars because the enemy was not of us, but from foreign roots. This time, the scenario is deceitful, as the enemy is our own countrymen that have decided that life can be easier if we chose to delegate and rescind our individual responsibilities, suborning them to a faceless collectivism of socialist government. “Hope and Change” is not the battle cry of a nation, but the whimper of a society that has grown decadent, lazy, and complacent, and only wishes “Bread and Circuses” and satellite TV.

A few hours from now, we will have our “Bread and Circuses”, to our own demise as free individuals.

America, you have chosen to follow the path of the Roman Empire, totally ignorant of the circumstances of its demise. Our only hope is to stand together against the tyranny of the ignorant masses and carry on what we ALL know is the vision of the founders, who selflessly gave their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to ensure those unalienable rights, G-d given, would not and could not be taken away from America.

Let’s resolve here and now, that “Hope and Change” be our own battle cry, as a return to a just and moral people that the founders envisioned as our form of government. We CAN and WILL use the very words of our enemies to remain steadfast for Freedom. I pray that our country can remain whole, as hundreds of thousands fought and died to maintain its integrity. We need to stand shoulder-to-shoulder in this committment for the sake of our posterity. America shall always stand. We are familiar and willing to pay any price that G-d’s will be done for this great nation.

I pray tonight, that the clarion call is false and we’ll have 4-years of a totally inept and incompetent administration. Yet in that we must be cautious. The enemy IS at the gates. Who will remain steadfast and loyal, ignoring the siren call of leisure and laziness simply attained by wearing the chains of an unaccountable government?
Who, indeed.

Live it.

A History Lesson from The Old Sage

Monday, January 19, 2009

Sage has done it again! In a post that will both invigorate and educate, he has shown us again how flaws in the Constitution itself have brought about the situation in which we live today. And how about this for a quotable:

The human race is ultimately divided into two political groups; those who desire to be controlled, and those who do not.
Yes, indeed. The Revolution will be televised!

I Know I've Been Quiet

Thursday, January 15, 2009

... But work calls. The new year has been busier than I could have imagined.

I''ve been giving the next post a lot of thought. I really want to put forth an excellent post on what Federalism is and why it's the best course for America.

So yes ... a lot of thinking. Got to be thorough ...

In the meantime. Here's an open thread for anyone who may wish to participate.

Trenton Stomps on the Second Amendment - AGAIN

Monday, January 05, 2009

This is bullshit.

For electing these felons, New Jersey voters should be jailed. Just go down the list of everyone who votes YEA on this and get the voting records of everyone in the state. A vote for any of these losers should get the voter some jail time. Enough is enough.

New Jersey could soon become the fourth state to limit handgun purchases to one a month, a move aimed at fighting "straw" gun buyers who purchase weapons legally and pass them to criminals.
Bullshit.

It's aimed at fighting innocent people who don't want to become victims of crime, especially the kind of crimes that are consistently being committed onthe people of New Jersey by the ever more corrupt politicians in Trenton.
The plan, backed by officials in Camden, Newark, Jersey City and other cities, follows calls from urban leaders across the nation, including Philadelphia, to crack down on gun trafficking that they say fuels violence.
As if officials in these cities have any clue how to fight crime. Just look at the murder rates there. Would YOU want to be roaming the streets of South Camden without packing heat?
There is much debate over whether such laws work, however, and opponents say a limit would infringe on a constitutional right in a state that already has rigorous screenings for gun buyers.
You want to know if these laws "work"? Just look at the crime rate in places like Camden and Newark. It doesn't get much more restrictive than it already is in New Jersey.

And yes ... in a state that already has rigorous ILLEGAL screenings for gun buyers.
Gov. Corzine, who sponsored a similar plan in the U.S. Senate, has said he will "absolutely" sign the bill into law if it reaches his desk.
There aren't many governors more corrupt in this country than Jon Corzine. The guy is as deep in the pockets of organized crime as Blago.
"How many guns does somebody need to purchase in a month?" Corzine asked.
With Corzine in the Governor's Masion, as many as somebody can get his hands on. Where exactly does this asshole get off assessing the defense needs of others? It's none of his fucking business.
Only California, Maryland and Virginia have one-gun-a-month restrictions. South Carolina had a similar law for nearly 30 years but repealed it in the face of criticism that it had proved ineffective.
Typical socilaists. Prove something ineffective, and they want more of it. Is it any wonder conservatives are pissed?
Gov. Rendell called for a one-handgun-per-month measure in Pennsylvania, but it was blocked. Philadelphia approved its own version and saw it struck down in court.
Good for those who blocked it - and even better for the citizens of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania as a whole.

As it is in this state, there are already so many of these stupid laws that the Second Amendment might as well have been printed on toilet paper.

Get ready for more of this, too, as the very Republicans and Democrats that Americans trust to make good laws have no respect whatsoever for the law. If they did, they wouldn't thumb their noses so obnoxiously at this, the single most important law in this country.
